Pixie: A Puppy with a Heart Full of Love!

Thursday, April 17, 2025

We have a very special girl to introduce: Pixie, a special girl with a heart full of love! This 3-month-old made her debut this morning on Tampa Bay's Morning Blend, where she charmed everyone she met. On set, she was calm and adorable, showing off some of the wonderful foundations she’s been taught by her foster dad. She’s working on house training and basic commands already!
But Pixie is not just any puppy.
When Pixie came into our care, we discovered she had a heart murmur. After seeing a specialist, she was diagnosed with a severe congenital heart defect called pulmonic stenosis. This condition impacts her heart’s ability to pump enough blood into her lungs to provide adequate oxygen. She will require life-long medication (a specific beta-blocker) and should not lead an overly-active lifestyle.
What does that mean for her? We don’t know how or when her heart murmur could impact her or what effect it will have on Pixie’s lifespan. Right now, she’s a loving, happy dog who deserves a chance to experience the love, safety, and comfort of a home. We hope there is someone out there who can open their own heart to love her not in spite of her condition, but because she’s so special.
Typically our adoptions are on a first-come basis, but due to her needs we will be accepting and reviewing applications for adoption to find the right person ready to embrace the love for and care of a special-needs dog.
Pixie will officially become available for adoption on Thursday, but you can submit an adoption application now. Click here!
