This weekend is all about shopping small and supporting local! If you're ready to add a family member to your holiday plans, support your local and oldest no-kill shelter in St. Pete and adopt. Friday, Nov. 28 through Sunday, Nov. 30, adoption fees will be reduced on our adult pets; adult cat adoption fees will be $35 and adult dogs will be $100.Even if you're not ready to adopt, you can pick up some great gifts for the pet lover in your life either in our retail section at The Cat Box or online. Donate in honor of a loved one
Not sure what to get someone, or maybe they don't want "stuff"? Make a donation to Friends of Strays to help cats and dogs in need this season! Simply make a donation on our website and select "Dedicate this Donation" and type in your friend's name. Follow the donation process and you'll be able to select an e-card to be delivered to your loved one informing them of your donation. Click here to donate today!
Stocking stuffers - for people and pets!
If you have a rescue-loving loved one, get them some Friends of Strays swag! We have t-shirts, canvas tote bags, Silipint silicone cups, and playing cards. As part of our Adopt Local weekend, shirts are $5 off Friday-Sunday! And you can get something special for pets, too – we also have treats and toy bundles for cats and dogs in our retail section. You can shop our merch at The Cat Box, 3015 46th Ave. N, St. Pete, Tuesdays through Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Coffee that helps pets in need
We've partnered with Roxy's Coffee for a "Ruff Morning Dark Roast"! Friends of Strays receives 10% of profits from each bag bought. Coffee lovers will delight in this smooth, rich dark roast blend. Maybe you don't have time to swing by and grab a shirt, or maybe you'd prefer to get a tank top or sweatshirt as a gift for your loved one. No problem! Check out our shop on Threadless and find our designs on options from t-shirts and hoodies to mugs and magnets! Please note that as these items are print-on-demand they are higher in price than our in-shelter merch and may take 2-5 business days to print and ship.
Should I adopt a pet for a loved one?
The desire to adopt a pet for someone else comes from a good place, but we do not recommend adopting a pet as a surprise for a loved one. Instead, make it an experience together! Bring your loved one to the shelter, and let them pick out the pet that they bond with. Then they can be on all the important paperwork, like the pet's microchip, and you can pay for the adoption fee! That way, it's still a gift – but it means even more, because they get the best friend they chose.
