JOB SUMMARY
The Engagement Manager will be responsible for managing the Friends of Strays outreach events and volunteer program. They will be responsible for strengthening existing community and volunteer relationships, creating new relationships, planning and coordinating events, effectively representing the organization to the public, and collaborating with FOS staff to vision and achieve community and volunteer related goals.

They must be organized, a skilled communicator, and have excellent critical thinking skills as well as an interest in local animal welfare. They will be responsible for planning and executing events, managing the volunteer database, tracking volunteer hours and completing regular reports. The incumbent will independently track and execute event, outreach, and volunteer goals.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create, plan, and execute outreach events calendar not including major fundraising events.
  • Maintain events outlook calendar for FOS events and community outreach events.
  • Foster community relationships to help facilitate the growth of volunteer, outreach, development, and events.
  • Consults with leadership and staff to determine organization needs for various volunteer services.
  • Ensure program staff have skills and supplies necessary to train, supervise, and engage volunteers placed in their department.
  • Work with development and communications staff to develop content for social media, newsletters, annual reports, and participate in strategic planning.
  • Create and facilitate annual plan to include recruitment, marketing volunteer positions, interviewing and screening potential volunteers, placement and training.
  • Prepare and maintain all documents related to volunteer management, from policies and procedures, to job descriptions, to training manuals.
  • Create and manage organization wide volunteer calendars. · Manage the volunteer database and log volunteer hours presented in monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Recruit and manage specialized volunteer positions "interns" for appropriate departments.
  • Assist in organizing logistics and volunteers for community outreach events, shelter events, and fundraising events.
  • Manage volunteer recognitions and awards.
  • Provide evaluation and feedback to volunteers.
  • Represent the organization at community outreach events.
  • Participate as a member of the Capital Campaign Development Team.
  • Other administrative and management duties as assigned.

SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Understanding and passion for animal welfare and sheltering
  • Proven experience managing, recruiting, and retaining volunteers
  • Must be able to multitask and work well under pressure
  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently communicate verbally and electronically with volunteers and staff
  • Creative thinking and proven systematic organizational skills to work independently, determine workload priorities to complete work in a timely manner, and identify and resolve problems
  • Proven skill at working in a collective environment, including interpersonal skills to interact sensitively with colleagues, students, community members, and workers from diverse social, cultural, and educational backgrounds
  • Form community partnerships and build relationships with volunteer and community groups
  • Experience working with a digital volunteer database (preferred)
  • Community relationships and connections in the Pinellas County region (preferred)

Work Schedule

  • The schedule for this position can include weekday, weekend, and holiday hours
  • Hours and days are subject to change based on department needs

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $39,000.00 per year
