Love Unleashed: 30 Days to Save More Lives
Help us raise critical funding this September to save more lives. generous donors pledged a $105,000 MATCH, meaning every dollar you donate is doubled for cats and dogs in need.
Every person who donates $100 or more will be entered to win a mini staycation: a 2-night stay at Island House Resort and a gift card to Middle Grounds Grill! We will draw the winner on Sept. 30!
For nearly 50 years, Friends of Strays has been saving lives.
Cats and dogs come to our door in need of rescue, refuge, and love. They desperately need the security of knowing good meals are coming, gentle hands and voices are ready to soothe them, and a safe place to land — perhaps for the first time in their lives.
But we're only able to say "yes" with you at our sides.
WHAT YOUR SUPPORT MAKES POSSIBLE
Rescue and Refuge:
- $25: could buy peanut butter and a lick mat to give a dog a fun activity on a rainy day.
- $50: could feed one adult dog for a month.
- $100: could fill our transport van so we can save lives across the state.
- $120: could purchase 2 gallons of Rescue, a disinfectant that keeps our shelter safe and clean.
- $2,200: could cover one month's power bill to keep our pets comfortable.
Meet Earl. This tiny kitten was found in the middle of a busy street in Pinellas County. He was in immediate danger from oncoming traffic as he tried to cross the road. Luckily, a Good Samaritan stopped to rescue him and brought him to Friends of Strays. He only suffered a little scuff on his nose! After a few weeks of growing up, his finders adopted him!
Medical Care:
- $7: could buy one box of latex gloves (in 2025, we went through 992 boxes!).
- $140: could cover the cost to purchase lime-sulfur dip and oral medication to treat 3 kittens with ringworm.
- $300: could cover heartworm disease treatment for one adult dog.
- $600: could help one kitten with panleukopenia get multiple medications to fight the virus.
- $2,000: could help a cat get specialist dental surgery, ending painful oral suffering.
Meet Andy. Andy came to us as a puppy from another municipal shelter. Shortly after arriving, his health took a turn for the worse with vomiting and diarrhea. He was diagnosed with parvo, a highly-contagious and deadly disease. Luckily, we were able to purchase a $1,400 medication, Canine Parvovirus Monoclonal Antibody (CPMA), and save his life.
Critical Prevention:
- $15: could buy heartworm disease prevention for one dog.
- $30: could send one community cat through our TNVR program.
- $100: could buy a new humane trap for our TNVR program, helping reduce overpopulation.
- $900: could pay for one week's worth of blood and fecal testing to detect medical issues.
Meet Clark. This poor dog arrived to us with his fur clumped in heavy matts, tight to his skin. His matting was so severe he struggled to walk and go to the bathroom. He was shaved down while sedated, and you could tell he felt so much better – and he'll never have to live like that again. He was quickly adopted to a loving home with a canine sister, too!
No animal should have to live a life without love.
