Swiftie

Female
Domestic Shorthair
Estimated DOB: 02/14/2019

Who wouldn't love this pretty lady?? Swiftie is looking for a couch of her own to reign over. She hopes her human staff will have plenty of treats to offer and brushes on hand.

Swiftie is FeLV+, meaning she has a viral infection that affects her immune system and bone marrow. The virus is contagious between cats, so they cannot be adopted into a home with FeLV negative cats. However, it is perfectly safe for them to be around dogs and people!

At most shelters, cats with this virus are euthanized upon diagnosis; but here at Friends of Strays, we know that FeLV+ cats live normal, happy lives; and though their lifespan has the potential to be shorter, we believe they deserve love and happiness too. So, we are dedicated to the humane research and improvement of shelter knowledge on the virus. Anecdotally, those who adopt and care for FeLV+ cats describe it as a positive, deeply rewarding experience, and report they would gladly do so again!

We think Swiftie is just as deserving of a home as any other cat, how bout you?
