2010 HURRICANE SEASON
Friends of Strays, would like to provide the following information and links to make this year's Hurricane Season safe for both you and your pets. Your pets depend on you for their safety. Please make sure you include them in your family's hurricane and disaster plans.
"Pet owners have an added responsibility each hurricane season. Not only do we have to be prepared ourselves, but we have to include our pets in the plans. The last time my family had to evacuate, in 1985 for hurricane Elena, we had two cats that went with us. As it turned out, the cats ended up in an executive conference room at the television station for three days. The cats didn't mind, but the boss was wasn't crazy about the idea. Just remember to plan ahead, and include the pet members of your family as well."
Do take time to stock up on all the supplies you may need during the hurricane season including pet supplies.
When planning your seasonal fresh water supply, be sure toinclude sufficient water for the family pets.
Water is an important part of their daily diet, too.
It's also a good idea to buy a manual can opener for wet food if you don't haveone in the house.
Don't forget about your pet's prescription refills whenyou receive the first warning.
